If anything, I like how this season is giving development to all the side characters, sure the VN gives even more insight and many more moments with all characters... but I think this episode was pretty decent, especially because I really like both brothers and their dynamic with Osthor and everyone else.

happy to learn more about the brother sister duo, especially the beautiful sister who i usually didn't pay much attention to since she didn't get much screeen time but damn our mc was alone with her playing strip poker and he was winning in numerous ways, now if only the little sister didn't interrupt, he might have gotten more clothing off, man is she loaded. glad that drugged drink didn't work on them, kuon quickly noticed and sent that dude to the shadow realm.

The anime can't adapt everything in the visual novel game. It's sad tbh, I wish you can see from my perspective what a masterpiece this story is. Because I've played all 3 seasons of the game and the game is the real deal. It really made me cried at the end of the game. But the anime failed to bring out this kind of emotion so i can't blame you, and they skipped a lot of things too

You keep mentioning previous season, any good anime (no matter the season) will be worth the while. Plus, it’s always good to start at the latest season just to see if you’d waste your time. I started watching “ DOUPO CANGQIONG” at season 5 and got so caught up, I had to start from season 1 eight back to season 5 and then start to finish reading the manga. Now that’s a good anime. And I can list at least 10 more… when an anime is lame, it’s just lame…

Oh, the first season started out generic, too, but it got much better once you realize what the "twist" about the world was.
